**Duties and responsibilities**:
You are encouraged to work independently in a lively environment. The portfolio will require you to prioritise tasks and be an effective planner and decision maker. The nature of the post means the incumbent can work discreetly and confidentially with personal and organisational information.

Key duties include:

- Coordination and delivery of the Department’s annual budget
- Review and control of the annual budget, including monitoring and reporting on performance against budget
- Provision of professional financial support to all within the Department
- Attend Departmental Senior Management Board, reporting and advising on the Department’s financial position
- Provide the Department and individually, its Divisions with robust financial management and reporting for all financial matters
- Oversee the provision of monthly finance management reports for the Department to senior staff within the Department and Faculty
- Oversee and review financial reports to provide clarity and direction to the Department’s leadership team and to the Faculty’s finance committee, and present commentaries in a form that aids the Head of Department and Departmental Manager in understanding and controlling the Department’s activities.

The reports will include:

- Detailed analysis of performance against budget
- Realistic full year forecast and mid-year re-forecast
- Key performance indicators
- Development, implementation, and monitoring of controls, systems, procedures to increase efficiency and ensure compliance with College financial regulations and Faculty standards and guidelines
- Provision of ad-hoc financial information, support to department-wide projects, and advice as necessary

**Essential requirements**:

- Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
- Strong ICT skills including Excel to an advanced level (macro work), PowerPoint and Word
- Have excellent communication skills and able to demonstrate diplomacy, enthusiasm and calm assurance when dealing with enquiries and tasks.
- Strong presentation skills with the ability to communicate complex concepts to staff with a range of knowledge
- Experience of utilising information technology, particularly database management systems, such as Oracle financial systems and Hyperion Essbase to produce management information reports
- Ability to show leadership in a changing environment and adapt working practices as necessary

**Further information**:
This is a full time and fixed term role for 2 years. You will be based on one of Imperial’s London Campuses (Hammersmith, White City, St Mary’s and South Kensington) where you may also be required to work at other Imperial Campuses.
- The College is currently trialling a Work Location Framework until early 2023. Hybrid working may be considered for this role and the role holder may be expected to work 60% or more of their time onsite, with 40% the minimum time spent onsite.
