**The Role**:
The purpose of this role is to assist the Specialist Support Lead in supporting participants who are struggling with substance misuse, mental health or additional needs, both in the community and in custody. The aim is to support referred individuals to identify suitable solutions and resources, and to liaise with statutory and voluntary services to improve wellbeing. Participants requiring support will range from various backgrounds including, but not limited to, criminal justice, substance misuse and homelessness. You will also be required to offer your support to employees of Recycling Lives. This role will require travel across the UK but will be based in Preston. The role will be based in the community but will also require work to be completed in a custodial setting.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- The effective management of a large and diverse case load of participants in custody and community settings as well as employees of Recycling Lives.
- Build relationships with clients, RLSE team members and other stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes.
- Support clients to understand and gain support around their mental health and/or substance misuse struggles, including identifying early warning signs, coping strategies and making referrals into relevant services.
- Provide appropriate information, advice and guidance in areas including, but not limited to, mental health and substance misuse.
- Encourage participants, where appropriate, to involve families and significant others in the preparation, transition or return to independent living.
- Provide advice and guidance to managers within the Recycling Lives group in relation to employees and participants who may be experiencing substance misuse and or mental health or other related issues.
- Keep accurate records on various media. Manage data securely and in line with legal and system requirements.
- Find ways to continuously improve both the service, and your own performance.
- Any other duties required by senior management such as providing crossover cover where necessary.

**Person Specification**:
**Essential**
- Excellent communication and people management skills including the ability to motivate and empower others.
- Qualification: Level 3 in Health and Social Care Diploma
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to work under pressure.
- Self-awareness and an ability to maintain professional boundaries.
- A keen social conscience and a desire to go the extra mile to help those in need.
- Fluent user of ICT and the ability to work with new software as required with strong administrative skills.
- Previous experience of working within the substance misuse and mental health sectors.
- Experience of managing a case load of participants with complex needs.
- A commitment to multi-agency working and establishing partnerships with other professions.
- Ability to adapt within a fast-paced, ever-changing work environment.
- Safeguarding Certification or a willingness to achieve this.
- Full driving licence and access to transport.

**Desirable**
- Working knowledge of the justice sector, including offending behaviours.
- In date prison (NOMS) vetting.
- An awareness of or experience working with dual diagnosis.
- An understanding of challenging behaviours.
- Certification in Criminology and/or BACP Accredited Counselling/Psychology/Substance misuse qualification.
- Crisis intervention training.

**Salary**: Up to £29,120.00 per year
