Volunteer - Care Home Activity Facilitator

Worthing, United Kingdom Guild Care Full time

We are looking for enthusiastic and friendly volunteers to join the Guild Care team as Activity Facilitators.

This opportunity will involve overseeing, supporting, and creating events for the residents at one of our beautiful care homes; Haviland House, Caer Gwent or Linfield.

Activities might include baking and icing cakes, arts and crafts, reading, games, reminiscing and chatting, or gardening and walking in the gorgeous grounds surrounding the homes. We are always open to suggestions of activities, so if you have a special talent, come and lead a class There is also the opportunity to learn some new skills along with the residents.

This role is varied and will entail either working solely or working with another volunteer or Guild Care colleague. One day you might be helping a resident play an instrument, and the next you might be knitting

It would help if an understanding of meaningful activities is already known to you, or if you have a very keen attitude and a willing ‘want’ to learn.

No-one is expected to be fully green-fingered in gardening - or a MasterChef in the kitchen to be able to ice and decorate cakes. This is a fun role with lots of love and laughter to enhance the residents of our Care Homes. It may be that just a gentle conversation is needed, and holding someone’s hand, or it may be that a quiz would save the day.

The activity facilitator opportunity would suit someone who has experience of the needs of older people with Dementia and is able to demonstrate their awareness.
- We understand that volunteers may have strengths and interests in different areas, and we have therefore indicated below a range of tasks and activities volunteers could be expected to assist with and support within this role._

- Store discount
