**Fortum O&M UK Limited - Teesside**

Tees REP Biomass Power Plant is a 100% biomass fuelled power station located at Tees Port on the River Tees in North East England operated and maintained by Fortum O&M (UK) Ltd. The installed capacity of the plant at 100% load is 299 MW gross (at 10ºC and 80% RH) and is designed to operate with pellets, woodchip or a mixture of both. The generated Power is exported to the Lackenby substation ~ 6 km away from the power plant site location. The main components are Circulating fluidized bed boiler (CFB), Steam Turbine Generator (STG), Air Cooled Condenser (ACC), Fuel Handling System (FHS) with Continuous Ship Unloading system (CSU). Fortum O&M UK Ltd are responsible for the operations and maintenance of the plant on a 24 hour / 365 days a year process, this to maximise plant availability and efficiency.

Basis - Permanent position

**Summary of job**:
The Field Operator will work as part of the Operations team and is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the power plant systems including CFB Boiler, Steam Turbine Generator, BOP, and Fuel Handling System out in the field on a 24 hour shift system.

As part of a team, your duties will include plant and equipment process monitoring, changes to outside operations including the operation of local HMI control systems in order to optimise performance during start-up, shutdown, normal and abnormal operation within health, safety and environmental compliance.

You will carry out on plant checks and monitor the plant systems and field processes to establish fault diagnosis and rectification.

Responsibilities will include routine tasks and testing of plant equipment out in the field. Contributing to the shift log book with plant and process changes, ensure defects and planned works are reported within the CMMS.

You will ensure a diligent shift handover is carried out to ensure effective communication of the plant status to the oncoming shift.

You will assist with carrying out isolations and de-isolations of mechanical and process equipment under the supervision and instruction of the Shift Engineer ensuring safety from equipment is implemented.

The Field Operator will also assist in carrying out basic maintenance on plant equipment together with the operations and maintenance teams.

Being totally flexible, you will be expected to carry out other duties within your competencies to ensure objectives are achieved.

**Key responsibilities**:

- Assist operation of the plant during start-up, shutdown and normal operation from out in the field.
- Diagnose, and make safe or rectify plant faults.
- Ensure plant defects are reported within the CMMS.
- Assist the testing of plant emergency and non-emergency equipment.
- Take routine samples including fuel, water chemistry, fly and bottom ash and ensure all details of results are recorded for analysis purpose.
- Ensure the safe and efficient delivery and offload of biofuel and bulk consumables into the plant.
- Observation and inspection of fuel conveying equipment ensuring the safe and efficient offloading of fuel.
- Support the operations team with ash loading and other activities within competence levels.
- Responsible for carrying out basic preventative maintenance on plant equipment to ensure the safe and continual operation of equipment.
- Operating plant machines, including forklift truck and any other machinery as required to carry out duties.
- Assist with onsite traffic management including control of vehicle movements in the offloading are when deliveries are by road, ensuring traffic management controls are being applied at all times.
- Housekeeping is to be carried out on a regular basis to ensure a high standard of site cleanliness.
- Provide effective communication ensuring all instructions are clear and understood.
- Must ensure at all times the full awareness of the plant status and work activities on plant equipment.
