**Graduate Consultant (timber and timber materials)

Do you want to work for a multi-disciplinary consultancy providing services for over 40 years, with market leading capabilities across the construction, services and rail sectors?

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the **Materials & Structures** business for a **Graduate Timber Consultant** to join our internationally recognised Materials Consultancy team. We provide specialist inspection, surveying and investigation services within the built environment. We also provide consultancy services to a range of clients in the public and private sectors. The department includes a UKAS-accredited laboratory, enabling us to provide in-house services for evaluating construction materials and to assist our clients with detailed assessment reports and guidance. We work closely with our timber engineering colleagues in RSK sister company Milner Associates, based in Bristol.

**Main responsibilities**
- Assist in delivering timber/wood science consultancy services to a wide client base.
- Work with timber engineering colleagues to deliver a range of projects.
- Site and laboratory-based investigations.
- Receive tender enquiries, liaise with Clients, programme works and report delivery.
- When required following appropriate training, manage projects.
- Maintain and develop client and other industry relationships.
- Develop new initiatives where wood science consultancy will help to grow the business.
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills.

**Principal skills required**
- Understanding of defect investigation practices, appropriate materials testing methods.
- Developing people management and interpersonal skills; assured communicator.
- Developing business acumen, including cost control and an understanding of project finances.

**Qualifications and experience**
- Academic qualification to at least degree standard, or equivalent experience/competence.
- Membership (or leading towards membership) of an appropriate professional body.
- Training and mentoring will be provided to rapidly develop consultancy skills.

**Salary & benefits**:

- £26,000-30,000 per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

- Based in Hemel Hempstead or Bristol.
