Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s in house legal team has an exciting opportunity for a legal officer to join our busy and friendly Legal Practice Team.

You will provide general legal support to the whole team. This is a very varied role, so you need to be:

- an excellent communicator with good written English
- enjoy working as part of a team
- have good attention to detail
- confident and accurate using ICT
- well organised.
- have experience or interested in developing your legal knowledge, skills and experience particularly in Children’s Social Care or Planning, Property and Commercial, but also in other areas of work
- enjoy working flexibly

As a Legal Officer the range of your work will include (but is not limited to):

- children’s social care, property, contracts and commercial work, adult social care, SEND, litigation matters, local land charges, and case management. We are seeking to recruit one Legal Officer with a main focus on Children’s Social Care and one post with a main focus on Property, Planning and Contracts, but both posts need to be flexible.

We are a busy team, often working to tight deadlines so high personal standards and an ability to work under pressure and prioritise work will be essential. This is an excellent opportunity to start or build on your experience to date and will provide you with an insight into a number of legal disciplines in a diverse organisation.
