Full training and support by WHG Head Office will be given to the successful applicant.

This is a self-employed position, and the Local Guardian is required to care for pupils within the agreed area detailed below.

JOB TITLE: Local Guardian

LOCATION: 1066 Country

AVAILABILITY: 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

These are not working hours, but you are expected to be available for emergencies if they arise.

REPORTS TO: WHG Head Office, Bournemouth

JOB PURPOSE
To act as guardian providing constant care and support. To build and maintain regular, individual contact with all WHG students in your specified area and providing constant flow of information to Head Office.

As the role is so varied, a high degree of flexibility and adaptability is paramount, together with an organised approach and to be able to prioritise their workload. The Local Guardian must be friendly, approachable and proactive.

We are looking for a Local Guardian who has previous experience in education or working with children.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To act as guardian providing constant care and support to WHG students in your area.

To be responsible for ensuring compliance to Social Services requirements. Ensuring the completion of WHG Host Family Application form and submission to Head Office.

Recruitment of Host Families willing to accept our students as part of their family, for both long and short term stays, half terms and EXEAT weekends for full time boarders.

Conduct annual inspections on all registered WHG Host Families and submit to Head office a completed Family Inspection Form every 12 months. To ensure that all members of the host family over the age of 16 is DBS checked.

Maintaining weekly contact with students as and when appropriate in accordance to the Guardianship Services Programme the student has been contracted to. Completion of the Student Contact Form following every visit or contact with WHG students.

Arrange transport for all WHG students for arrival/departure as well as all transport requirements, where required, whilst the student is at school and complete the Arrival Identification Form and Travel Forms and distribute to all interested parties (e.g. parents/agents/school and Head Office).

Submit all Disbursement and Transport invoices to Head Office in a timely manner.

Complete and submit to Head Office Student Report forms in accordance with guidelines and timescales as detailed on the Local Guardians Resources.

Responsible for own expenses relating to fuel (unless transporting WHG students), telephone and computer consumables.

Input to WHG Head Office regarding state and private schools willing to integrate our students within your agreed area.

IT and Communications.
Local Guardians are expected to provide and maintain their own private computer. A good level of proficiency in computing and the internet is required. Ensure the use of spell checker on all documents. Understand the functionality of Adobe Acrobat format.

CONFIDENTIALITY
No records may be disclosed to any other person outside Head Office without express permission and after the cessation of any employment no information may be divulged or any contact made with Agents, Local Guardian, schools and students.

INSURANCE
A copy of your current car insurance is required if you are planning to transport our students.

Local Guardians are covered by WHG Public Liability and Professional Indemnity Insurances when undertaking WHG duties.

ANNUAL LEAVE
WHG would prefer holiday not to be taken during school term time. If this is unavoidable, a deputy must be nominated in writing to WHG head office 4 weeks prior to the holiday commencing. WHG would ask for all Local Guardians to nominate a host family to deputise whilst on leave and not to nominate another Local Guardian.
