Our Swindon based client is looking for an experienced Sub Editor to join their growing team on a 12-month fixed term contract. In this fully remote role, you’ll be responsible for ensuring editorial quality of our client’s print and online content. Offeringa salary of up to £34.000 plus benefits, you’ll need exceptional spelling, grammar and attention to detail and have a genuine passion for ensuring quality, in both processes as well as the final product.

Your responsibilities as Sub Editor, will include:

- Striving for best editorial copy, through reading pieces with a critical eye and raising queries with the writers and editors
- Checking and correcting articles for spelling, grammar, punctuation and house-style
- Collaborating with volunteers, writers, and contributors to polish their copy
- Ensuring regular and even flow of articles on our client’s website
- Editing copy and layout in Adobe InDesign
- Fact checking and fixing copy
- Contribute to ensuring all content complies with libel laws, copyright and accessibility rules
- Ensuring the company’s print publication is complete for printing and fits into the InDesign template

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

- Proven journalistic experience
- Proven sub-editing skills
- Solid level of skill with core Adobe CC packages: Adobe Photoshop and Adobe InDesign (training can be provided)
- Degree level education or equivalent
- High standards of work with excellent attention to detail
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to manage own workload schedule but also keep sight of the team’s workload to ensure all deadlines are met
- Ability to build and maintain professional working relationships with internal and external stakeholders

The role:
As Sub Editor you will report to the Content Strategist and will be responsible for ensuring the editorial quality of the company’s print publication. Offering up to £34,000 p/a alongside great company benefits, which includes; 23 days holiday per year,life insurance, pension and the ability to condense your hours to a 9 day working fortnight. This is the ideal role of an experienced Sub Editor looking for their next challenge and flexible working arrangements.

This Sub Editor role is a 12-month fixed term contract, to cover long term illness, this is a home-based role, with possibility of UK travel when necessary. With head office based in Swindon, you must be able to commute here as required.
