**About The Role**:
**Senior Associate Practitioner**

**Jarvis Centre, Surrey**

**30 hours per week on a local rota**

**£32,934 pro rata**

The Surrey and North East Hampshire (Jarvis) Breast Screening Service (BSS) has an eligible population of approximately 180,000 women who are invited to screening over a 3-year screening round. The static breast screening unit is currently located at the Jarvis Breast Centre provides screening and assessment service. Screening is also carried out on five mobile units covering a geographical area including 19 sites throughout Surrey and North East Hampshire which include supermarket carparks, local council carparks and hospital sites. Screening patients are referred to six NHS Trusts for surgical and oncological treatments.

**What you will do**:

- You will perform routine Mammography examinations in the static unit and on mobile vans, taking part in a rota to work in Surrey and North East hampshire.

**What you are responsible for**:

- Work within a multi-disciplinary team undertaking mammography as part of the breast screening programme
- Individuals in this role will be technically skilled in operating specialised mammography equipment and be responsible for producing mammography images of consistently high quality to meet rigorous NHS Breast Screening Programme (NHSBSP) standards
- Load and unload clinics for reporting
- Chaperone duties during assessment clinics
- Transport films and equipment between screening sites as necessary
- Assist in the processing and sorting of exposed mammograms
- Prepare trolleys for interventional procedures and assist in care of the patient and cleaning of equipment after biopsies
- Assist with the maintenance of adequate stock levels and to keep the clinical and staff areas clean and tidy
- Comply with Health and Safety at work regulations, Radiation Protection Regulations, Local Rules and departmental policies and protocols
- Carry out other duties appropriate to the grade as may be designated by the Superintendent Radiographer
- Be able to answer straight forward questions on breast screening and breast health
- Offer calm support for women attending for screening
- Be confident and professional when positioning women who are naked from the waist up
- Record personally generated clinical observations
- Update clinical records
- Act as a chaperone for radiologist performing ultrasound examinations
- Treat all women attending for Breast Screening with kindness and discretion
- Participate when possible in Health Promotion
- Be able to enter on the computer all Q.A. data
- Recognise and report equipment malfunction to the supervising radiographer.
