The post holder will be a CBT therapist working within Sheffield IAPT providing Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to adults with depression and a range of anxiety disorders in line with NICE guidance and the National IAPT manual.

Full and part time (minimum 22.5 hours), temporary and permanent positions available (blend of remote/in person working).

Applications welcomed by both newly qualified and experienced practitioners (there is an expectation of working towards BABCP accreditation).
- A full time (37.5) therapist is required to offer 20 hours of therapy per week (reduced on a pro rata basis).

Principal duties

1. CLINICAL
1. Assess patient's suitability for CBT interventions in line with NICE guidance in a stepped care model.
2. Providing consultations with IAPT staff on suitability, feeding back to stakeholders on suitability issues to support the patient to access the right intervention. Completing onward referral to other services where appropriate.
3. Assess and manage risk collaboratively with the patient and adhere to the IAPT risk protocol; working to ensure the safety of the patient and others.
4. Formulate, implement and evaluate therapy programmes for patients.
5. To complete all mandated session by session outcome measures.
6. The post holder will work with people from different cultural backgrounds; and will if necessary, work using an interpreter. The post holder will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to equal opportunities.
7. Use highly developed communication skills in working with people to understand their personal and often very sensitive difficulties
8. Exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment and treatment of patients in line with the service and the National IAPT manual.
9. Educate and involve family members and others in treatment as appropriate; conveying CBT and other psychological formulations with sensitivity in easily understood language.
10. Adhere to an agreed activity contract relating to the number of patient contacts offered, and clinical sessions carried out per day in order to minimise waiting times and ensure treatment is delivered in an accessible timely manner.
11. Keep coherent records of all clinical activity in line with service protocols; and complete all requirements relating to data collection within the service.
12. Work closely with other members of the team ensuring appropriate arrangements are in place to maintain a stepped care approach.
13. Assess and integrate issues surrounding work and employment into the overall therapy process
14. Liaise with other health and social care staff from other agencies as appropriate to appropriate care for patients.
