- 1 x Fixed Term Permanent - AEB Procured programme
- 1 x Fixed Term from 01 June 2023 - 31 August 2024 - AEB/ESF/UKSPF Programme
The Skills & Employment Unit at the GLA is responsible for this vision and is one of the largest and most dynamic Units. The three Delivery teams within the Unit commission and manage a wide range of projects that help to deliver the Mayor’s “Good Work for All” mission, by supporting Londoners to gain the skills and experience they need to succeed in London’s labour market, and helping businesses to grow.
The Delivery teams are responsible for developing and delivering a complex and varied portfolio of projects encompassing support to Londoners, particularly those who are unemployed and disadvantaged, as well as collaboration with employers, schools, colleges and independent training providers.
We are currently seeking to fill three temporary Principal Project Officer roles within the AEB, Multiply and AEB/ESF/UKSPF Delivery team. An overview of each vacancy is presented below:
**Principal Project Officer - Multiply x1**
We are looking for an experienced Principle Project Officer to manage a team and lead on the project delivery of the £40m Multiply programme which is a new government-funded programme to help adults across the London improve their numeracy skills and will report to the Programme Manager. This role involves leading on commissioner requests and with internal teams and services to collate information at pace and requires excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills.
**Principal Project Officer - AEB Procured x1**
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead a team of officers and temporary workers, who will focus on closing down the GLA’s £130m AEB Procured programme. The AEB Procured Programme is match-funded by the European Social Fund and has significant compliance requirements. Therefore, this role would suit an individual with experience of working with large datasets, managing multiple projects, and using project management tools to effectively manage risks and issues.
**Principal Project Officer - AEB/ESF/UKSPF Delivery x1**
We are recruiting for an experienced Project Manager to manage a small team to support the closure of the £83m Mayor’s ESF European Social Fund Programme and the development and management of the new Community Grants Programme and/or the UK Shared Prosperity Fund Programme (NEET Programme).
**General requirements**:
We are looking for someone who is passionate about supporting Londoners and London’s businesses to succeed, with strong programme and people management skills, good experience of commissioning and with a proven ability to deliver positive outcomes.
You will have initiative and drive, and the ability to prioritise a challenging work load. You will be a skilled manager with solid experience of leading programme tasks and project delivery in a matrix management environment. As well as ensuring the development and delivery of your own, and your team’s portfolio, you will be able to provide strategic oversight of your programme area for all your colleagues in Skills and Employment, including senior managers.
You will come to us with excellent stakeholder management, project management and organisation skills and ideally with solid experience of commissioning and delivering Skills and Employment contracts and grants. You’ll also have the ability to analyse and interpret data and ‘soft’ information, assess risk, brief decision makers, develop new processes and guidance, and identify workable solutions to problems as they arise.
The successful individuals will be involved in:
- The full project management cycle from supporting project delivery, performance reporting, quality assurance through to project evaluation.
- Overseeing complete delivery by commissioned adult education providers across London
- Building effective internal relationships across the Skills and Employment Unit and the GLA
- Management of internal operational boards
- Line management of programme delivery team
- Programme managing continuous improvement and programme sustainability
