Sperry Rail (International) Limited is a leading supplier of ultrasonic rail inspection and provides this safety critical service to global railway clients.

**SUMMARY OF POSITION**:
These 2 roles are Safety Critical Roles which analyse test data received from all Sperry’s test vehicles / units and from various technology streams including Ultrasonic and Eddy Current Non-Destructive Testing equipment.

To collect the information for analysing, a team of Vehicle Operators regularly travel on vehicles (owned by Sperry or the customer), on agreed routes, to agreed times whilst running the test equipment and recording its output. The data from each vehicle is transmitted at the end of each shift to a common software area accessible to all relevant staff. Every time a vehicle completes a test run the Analysis Group in Derby retrieve all the relevant files and process the data within the agreed timeframes. The process includes analysing the data to agreed criteria, confirming the track tested with the customer and issuing a report detailing the findings from the test. Providing a complete railway management service is a more complex process that includes other functions that are part or all the responsibility of the Analyst Group and include TwinView, the NARMO process, SDMS etc.

**KEY ACTIVITIES**
- Using appropriate checking mechanisms, review track positioning data files and make corrections where required to ensure the efficient and accurate location of all reported suspected rail defects.
- Classify and prioritise images to the agreed individual railway infrastructure specified criteria. On discovery of any potential defect that may jeopardise the integrity of any rail section, consult immediately with Senior Analyst/Line Manager and take instruction of appropriate action.
- Use Global Positioning System co-ordinates and railway mapping tools to establish to 100% accuracy the route of the Inspection Vehicle, providing reports of its accuracy compared to a predetermined route.
- Participate in daily team meetings, showing a willingness to work across multiple data streams and customer markets on a daily/weekly basis.
- Support the update and maintenance of procedural documentation and paper-based systems associated with the role in accordance with the Company’s ISO standards.

- Full Colour Vision
- Flexibility in relation to shift patterns owing to the unpredictability of workload
- Basic level of computer skills, including experience with MS Office Programmes
- Very high level of attention to detail
- A high level of self-motivation particularly during repetitive tasks
- Very high level of attention to detail

**WE WOULD ALSO LIKE**
- GCSE Grade C or above in English and Maths (or equivalent)
- Knowledge of the railway industry and the associated safety standards
- Eddy Current / Ultrasonic certifications
- Previous customer service experience
- Intermediate level of computer and software knowledge
- Experience of interpreting data images

**WHAT WE OFFER**
- Annualised hours contract of 2028 hours per annum, equivalent to 39 hours per week

Starting salary £24,500 per annum increasing with role competency.
