Are you and experienced Database Administrator ?

Do you have excellent Microsoft SQL skills ?

Would you like to work for a company that was established over 100 years ago and is one of the leaders in their field?

You can be based from their Glasgow or Edinburgh office and it will be hybrid working. You will be responsible for providing broad ranging and high-quality Database support, configuration, optimisation and consultancy services.

Your responsibilities include:

- Ensure availability and high performance of database technology within the firm
- Proactively monitor the database systems to ensure secure services with minimum downtime
- Responsible for troubleshooting and problem solving of SQL and development issues
- Managing the implementation and release of database changes according to agreed timescales
- Responsible for providing trend analysis to enable informed decisions regarding resource management and capacity planning
- Automating repetitive tasks where applicable
- Adhering to information security standards, policies, and procedures
- Responsible for influencing firm wide SQL strategy

Essential Knowledge/Skills/Experience
- Solid knowledge of Microsoft SQL technologies, specifically Database Engine
- Solid knowledge of the T-SQL Query language
- Hands-on experience of SQL server deployment, configuration, and performance management
- Experience of SQL Server database performance monitoring and troubleshooting
- Experience of SQL database recovery strategies and security
- Experience working to change management policies and DevOps procedures

Desirable Knowledge/Skills/Experience
- Knowledge of Azure DevOps (ADO) Boards, Pipelines and Repos advantageous
- Knowledge of modern SQL technologies such as SQL 2019 and cloud-based Azure SQL Databases advantageous
- Knowledge of other data-driven technologies such as SSIS, SSRS, Azure Data Factory, Databricks or Synapse advantageous
- Knowledge of other data-driven technologies such as Databricks advantageous
- Experience of working in a large, multi-database, multi-client environment advantageous
