Database Administrator - Contract


We’re looking for a skilled Database Administrator to join our client in the education sector on a contract basis. This role involves 2 days on-site in Glasgow each week, with the rest remote.


In this role, you’ll maintain and optimise our client’s database systems to ensure high performance and security, supporting the organisation’s mission in education. You’ll troubleshoot issues, implement best practices, and contribute to a reliable, efficient database environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain database systems to ensure availability, security, and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot, monitor, and optimise database performance.
  • Support migration, backup, and disaster recovery activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve database processes.


Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Database Administrator; experience in the education or public sector is a plus.
  • Strong SQL skills and knowledge of major database systems (e.g., Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server).
  • Detail-oriented with a problem-solving mindset.
  • Available for on-site work in Glasgow 2 days a week.
