We will need someone willing to work 12 hours per week term time (weekends only) and 20 hours per week school holidays (M-F).

They will be required to cook a variety of foods, do online shopping and meal planning.

Cooking Bangladeshi cuisine is advantageous as most of our service users are from this background and want this type of food when they are at the respite centre.

**MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES OF POST HOLDER**

**RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ADVANCE PLANNING OF THE WEEKS MENU FOR LUNCHEON AND SUPPER AT THE SHORT BREAKS RESPITE CARE CENTRE. TO COOK MEALS FOR THE SERVICE USERS OF THE CENTRE INCLUDING BREAKFAST, LUNCH AND TEA WHEN APPROPRIATE. SHOPPING FOR FOOD PROVISIONS AND SUPPLIES AS REQUIRED. TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL THE KITCHEN EQUIPMENT AND MAINTENANCE OF THE KITCHEN AREA SPACE AS WELL AS CLEANING OF THE KITCHEN AFTER USE.**

**Main Tasks**

1) To understand and comply with Qalb’s Equal Opportunities Policy.

2) To be aware of and responsible for the hygiene in the kitchen, by keeping a high standard of cleanliness.

3) To ensure that all kitchen equipment is safe and in good working order.

4) To report faults with the kitchen and the equipment to Senior Project Workers.

5) To work as a member of the staff team of the establishment and to attend team meetings as required.

6) To prepare and cook all meals as required by children and young people during weekends and school holidays.

7) To be responsible for preparing and cooking for any special diets, i.e. Diabetes, salt free, halal and vegetarian.

8) To comply with the environmental health requirements, this includes ensuring that samples of all foods are kept for 24 hours.

9) To advise Senior Project Workers on shift of menu planning, taking into account of specialist dietary needs.

10) To monitor stocks and adequately advise on storage.

11) To maintain accurate records in accordance with the requirements of the centre.

12) To inform Senior Project Workers of Discovery Home of stocks required and after agreement purchase accordingly.

13) To ensure that the kitchen area, kitchen equipment and other items used for cooking are cleaned after use.

14) To undertake other such duties, which may be reasonably required in order fulfilling the job requirements.
