**Job summary**:
As a member of the England Leadership Team, you’ll have a key leadership position within our England Funding Directorate.

You will be leading a team to support the development and delivery of £50m ringfenced funding to Black and Ethnic Minority-led community charities and grassroots groups across England, over five years.

You will work with The Phoenix Way Partners (TPW), a national collaborative partnership created during the Covid-19 pandemic as a response to the structural inequalities which Black and Ethnic Minority communities and community-led organisations face in relation to influencing and accessing grant funding in the UK.

Visit The Ubele Initiative - The Phoenix Way to find out more about The Phoenix Way and the Phoenix Way Partners.

**Job description**:
You’ll carry overall accountability for all aspects of this programme, working with Phoenix Way partners and the wider sector to deliver and learn from this work. You’ll be responsible for ensuring that grants continue to be delivered to the highest standard and in line with their respective agreements but also with a focus on learning, legacy and sustainability. Beyond delivery, your challenge will be to ensure that the learning is maximised, disseminated and embedded as effectively as possible both internally and externally.

You’ll be supported by a team of Funding Managers and Funding Officers. In return, you’ll support, motivate and empower them to succeed through effective line management, coaching and provision of inspirational leadership.

Success in this role will depend on your ability to work collaboratively with your immediate team and other senior stakeholders across the Fund, specifically across the Engagement team, the Funding Strategy team and other Country Portfolio teams. Within the England Directorate, you will have to further strengthen the links between your team and the other funding teams, to ensure the learning from this strategic programme is further embedded and that plans for the future are developed collaboratively, informed by and building on the experiences and ways of working in both strategic programmes teams, and further across the Directorate.

You will be responsible for representing the Fund externally and developing excellent relationships with the Phoenix Way Partners and senior level stakeholders. The aim is to ensure that, as much as possible, learning from this programme reaches those in positions to make decisions, be it at local, regional or national level, relevant to the overall outcomes the programme aims to achieve.

You’ll contribute as an active member of the England Leadership Team and a leader at the Fund to the achievement of our strategic ambitions.

Of course, you’ll need to work within the Fund’s policies and procedures and the necessary legislation, and in a way that is in line with our vision and principles.

**Interview date: Tuesday 2nd May and Thursday 4th May** **Location**: You can be based anywhere in England to ensure easy access to all of our England offices.

Our England offices are based in Birmingham, Exeter, Leeds, London and Newcastle.

We have a hybrid approach to working and more than happy to discuss your ideal working pattern.

**Person specification**:
**Essential Criteria**:You will need to demonstrate your skills and experience in the following areas:

- Strong understanding and experience of working with and for the Black and Ethnic-minority led voluntary and community sector and/or targeted funding programmes
- A strong focus on learning, understanding of how to plan, generate, utilize and embed data, evidence and learning to influence and shape policy and practice
- Inclusive, compassionate leadership skills, experienced at developing, supporting and leading a small team built around a shared purpose.
- Excellent communication and engagement skills, co-design and co-production experience, ability to collaborate with internal and external partners to translate vision into reality.

**Desirable Criteria**:

- Experience of managing large, complex budgets
- Experience of navigating/advocating within a complex organisation, such as an arms length body
- Strategic thinking and planning, with a focus on building capacity and sustainability
- Flexible, able to adapt and change

**Equity, Diversity and Inclusion**

Communities in the UK come in all shapes and sizes. National Lottery funding is for everyone - therefore, we are committed to equity, diversity and inclusion and we work hard to ensure our funding reaches where it is needed.

As a Disability Confident Employer, we take
