**Your Role - Museum Documentation Assistant**

The purpose of this role is to undertake the work laid out in the museum’s Collections
Documentation Plan, ensuring that the documentation of the museum’s collection is advanced from predominantly paper records to an online system. The role will support in improving both our collections management and engagement work and also to create an online resource for our users.

The post will be for a fixed term of 2 years, this role will require flexibility to respond to the requirements of the service, you will be required to work regular weekends.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Prepare and process data and images onto the collections database.
- Edit and improve catalogue records to add more information and improve accessibility.
- Run regular community participation at the museum and off-site to co-create records and collect and verify object information.
- Supporting and developing the documentation volunteers.
- Take part in the Collections Review project as required.
- Respond to public research enquiries and working with researchers as required to collect and supply information.
- Working with the Collections and Education teams to develop the public offer online.
- Support all staff with using the catalogue and liaise with IT when issues arise.
- Build relationships with community partners and stakeholders, working on museum projects with colleagues to widen access and engagement.
- Provide images and information for the museum’s social media, marketing and website.
- Assist with retrospective documentation tasks such as accessioning, object numbering and discrepancy checking.
- Assist with the creation of displays and exhibitions, both at the museum and off site.
- To provide operational support during museum events and activities when required, to fully engage with the community and take part in engagement activities and events.
