THE ORGANISATION
Elm Hayes Surgery Paulton is a general medical practice comprising five doctors caring for about 9000 patients in a semi rural community. We dispense to about one third of our patients.
Our staff team comprises the Practice Manager, nursing team, three dispensers, receptionists, secretarial and clerical support. We also have the services of other primary health care staff.
YOU ARE A PIVOTAL MEMBER OF THAT TEAM.

BASIC FUNCTION
Care, accuracy and attention to detail are of paramount importance in all tasks and our prime concern is to give the best possible service to our patients at all times and in all aspects.
To maintain active and cordial working relationships with the partners and other members of staff at all times.
To maintain a friendly and efficient working environment in which the doctors can perform their duties in full confidence that all aspects of the administration of the surgery are in safe hands.
TRAINING
Full on site training will be provided. Applicants will be enrolled in a L3 Business
Administration Apprenticeship with optional Medical Administration Modules.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- To maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- To work alongside the practice pharmacy team to operate recall process for patients who require medication reviews.
- To input and process patients’ requests for regular repeat medications.
- To maintain the dispensary stock at reasonable levels in accord with demand, by reordering appropriate quantities daily.
- To promptly, efficiently and accurately check off incoming order to paperwork and restock shelves.
- To ensure dispensary consumables are restocked regularly.
- To minimise wastage by ensuring that stock is used within date and stored in accord with manufacturers instructions.
- To keep the dispensary clean and tidy at regular intervals.
- To handout patients previously prepared prescriptions and to take prescription fees and other money due to the surgery and recording it on the till carefully and accurately.
- To dispose of returned unwanted prescriptions, out of date stock and sharps in accordance with laid down procedures.
- To ensure the proper storage of all dispensary items.
- To be flexible to offer holiday and sick cover as and when required.
- To participate in staff discussions and suggest ways of improving the service when the opportunity arises and attend department and practice meetings even if these are not held at times which you may usually work.
- To undertake regular mandatory training as necessary.
- To carry out such tasks as may reasonably be asked of you by the Doctors or
Managers.
HOURS OF WORK
37.5 hours per week varying shifts between 8.30am-7.30pm. It is a requirement of this positon that you must be available for holiday and sickness cover. 1 day per week will be allocated to protected time for training.
PAY SCALE
£15,000 per annum.
PENSION
All staff are eligible to join the NHS Pension Scheme.
HOLIDAYS
28 days per annum pro rata (inc bank holidays). No paid holiday in the first 3 months of service.
SICK PAY
Statutory Sick Pay applies.
UNIFORM
An annual uniform allowance will be provided and staff uniform will be purchased from our regular supplier
