**URGENT REQUIREMENT**
**Cordant People are currently recruiting for Band 2 General Facilities Operatives for a busy hospital in York.**
As a General Facilities Operative you will play an important role in maintaining the hospital and alternativing between different services.
? Environment Services: 7:00-15:00 Monday - Sunday or 15:00-20:00 Monday - Friday
? Linen Services: 23:00 - 08:00 Monday to Sunday
? Portering Services: 06:00 - 14:00, 14:00 - 22:00, 22:00 - 06:00 Monday to Sunday
**KEY DUTIES**:
**Linen Services**
? To provide a Linen Service to all wards and departments in time with schedules.
? To work alongside ward and department representatives to ensure the Linen service is efficient and effective at all times.
? To contribute to service improvements - you will be expected to take part in 121s and appraisals.
? To ensure any emergency Linen requests are recorded and delivered within KPI timescales.
? To deliver clean linen ensuring the daily standard is met
? To ensure the emergency linen store is locked after use and that emergency linen supplies are delivered in a timely manner when requested.
? To ensure the Linen store is kept clean at all times and the stock is managed in line with relevant policies and procedures.
**Environment Services**
? The safe and timely removal of clinical, domestic and cardboard wastes from utility rooms and designated collection areas
? The safe and timely removal of soiled Linen from the utility rooms and designated collection areas to the waste compound
? The safe and timely removal of any additional waste streams including plastics, confidential waste, used or broken furniture and any hazardous wastes such as out of date chemicals.
? To segregate and store the various waste streams within the waste compound in preparation for collection via external contractors for disposal or recycling
? Make sure documentation relating to the various waste streams is completed correctly and passed to the Assistant Facilities Manager for recording, compliance and audit purposes.
? To perform the bailing of cardboard using the industrial bailing machine.
? To contribute to service improvements via discussion during 121s and appraisals.
**Portering Services**
? General portering duties using the appropriate form of transportation including Patient transfers, Mortuary transfers, delivery and collection of bloods/specimens, gas cylinders, Entonox bank and other equipment of a routine and non-routine nature.
? Maintain and clean all types of portering related equipment.
? Transport equipment, wheelchairs and furniture as required.
? Ensure wheelchairs are appropriately stored across the site.
? Collection and movement of waste materials and delivery of ward and department Linen when required.
? Respond on the activation of the fire alarm and investigate, meeting the fire brigade and escorting them to the scene.
? Deploy and assist emergency services and agencies where appropriate through local policies including during major incidents.
? To contribute to service improvements via discussion during 121s and appraisals.
**SKILLS**:
? Physical fitness - you will spend a lot of time on your feet and moving heavy equipment around the hospital
? Effective communication - you will be speaking with a diverse range of people - you will need to remain professional and polite at all times when communicating with staff, colleagues, patients and visitors
? Commitment to working in a multi-disciplinary team
? Commitment to ensure the highest possible professional standards
