**Monitoring Officer (Peat)**

**35 hours per week**

**£27,706 per annum**

Yorkshire Wildlife Trust is one of the UK’s fastest growing nature conservation organisations and seeks to appoint a **Monitoring Officer **to join it’s Peat Programme team.

We need a Monitoring Officer to help develop and deliver the first phase of our exciting new Ure Dales Landscape Recovery Scheme, and lead on Yorkshire Peat Partnership’s ‘Eyes on the Bog’ citizen science programme.

You will be responsible for designing and implementing monitoring and research activities for the Ure Dales Landscape Recovery Scheme on a variety of sites in the heart of Yorkshire Dales National Park; communicating with local farmers, landowners, partner organisations and colleagues to organise collection of ecological data and use GIS software to create detailed plans for future monitoring. Leading on the ‘Eyes on the Bog’ programme, you will continue the roll-out of peatland monitoring plots at remote locations across Yorkshire; working with, managing and training volunteers to collect data, and contributing to analysing the data and interpreting any findings.

You will need to have experience of ecological field monitoring, using GIS software and specialist tech in remote areas and have managed or worked with volunteers before. You also need to know (or be willing to learn) how to design and implement ecological monitoring methods, be an excellent communicator, be organised and be able to work in a busy, changing environment.
