**COUNSELLOR JOB DESCRIPTION**

**Job Overview**:
To provide emotional and therapeutic support to children aged 5-18 years old in Tea of Therapy partner schools. As an organisation that has adapted the BACP ethical framework of good practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy, counsellors working within the organisation are dedicated to improving the mental health and well-being of the children they work with.

**Location**: North London

(Must be ready to start the week of 13th March 2023

**Responsibilities and Duties**
- Establish a relationship of trust and respect with Clients
- Encourage clients to talk about issues they feel they cannot normally share with others
- Keep a personal record of notes.
- Committed to a minimum of one full day per week
- Working days vary from 8:30am - 4:00pm depending on the requirements of the school.
- The Counsellor will see a minimum of 5 children a day
- The Counsellor is required to attend a monthly supervision session with the Tea of Therapy Supervision team.
- To ensure counsellors uphold good practice from the BACP guidelines.
- The counsellors are required to report any safeguarding concerns to the schools safeguarding lead.
- Counsellors will be required to complete closing case notes for each child they see.
- Counsellors may be required to meet with parents or guardians

**Reports To**:

- Tea of Therapy management team
- School team when working with them

**Qualifications**
- A minimum of 5 GCSEs A-C including Maths and English
- Minimum diploma level qualification in counselling: at Level 4, this course and should be at least one year full time or two years part time.
- 100 hours in a supervised placement.

**Essential Requirements**
- Must have a valid DBS
- Must be apart of the BACP
- Ability to work within an integrative approach
- Must have a minimum of 100 supervised hours.
- Has the ability to run group sessions.
- Ability to work well on your own.
- Ideally integrative counsellor (but not required)

**Salary**
- £135 per day worked
- Pay will be paid monthly

**Job Types**: Part-time, Temporary contract
Contract length: 4 months

**Salary**: £135.00 per day

Schedule:

- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- No weekends

Work Location: One location
