**About Us**: South Wales Police is the largest police force in Wales, serving a population of approximately 1.3 million people across an area of 2,117 square miles. As a force Information Security Officer, you will be responsible for overseeing and implementing information security measures to protect sensitive information.

**The role**

We are seeking a motivated and experienced information security professional who is looking for a challenging and rewarding opportunity to join our dynamic team. You will contribute to the force systems compliance and risk strategy, advising chief officers where necessary and will be responsible for the day-to-day management and supervision of information security risks. The FISO acts as the Single Point of Contact for Information Security and is responsible for ensuring the integrity, confidentiality and availability of our information assets.

**Responsibilities**:
Cyber/Information Security Advisor:

- Develop, implement, and enforce information security policies, standards, and procedures in alignment with organisational objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate information security risks effectively.
- Provide training and awareness programs to personnel on information security best

practices, including the handling of sensitive information and recognising security threats.
- Perform regular audits and assessments to ensure compliance with security policies and regulations.
- Lead incident response efforts, including containment, mitigation, and recovery from security breaches or cyberattacks.
- Collaborate with other departments or agencies to share threat intelligence and best

practices, as well as address security concerns that may affect multiple entities.
- NPSA - PASF Security Assessor and Advisor (work alongside Counter terrorism Security Advisors to perform Physical Security Assessments on locations which house or access police systems).
- INTERPOL Security - To authorise and/or grant access to Interpol system.

Local Systems Accreditor
- Responsible for ensuring that South Wales Police complies with HMG/PD
- Independently assure that information processes including communications and IT systems meet baseline security objectives as specified by HMG guidance and to ensure that they do not pose an unacceptable risk.
- To locally accredit systems intending to connect to the force network and liaise with project managers/system owners in ensuring that there are no unacceptable risks throughout the project.
- Represent the force at the National Accreditor’s Forum

**Requirements**:

- Must have a good standard of education to at least GCSE A-C Level, including Maths and English or be able to demonstrate equivalent skills and abilities.
- Qualifications in IT, information assurance and governance or related discipline or significant relevant experience
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), or equivalent certification highly desirable.
- Proven IT/Information security and risk management with complex security and compliance requirements
- Production of/or input to policy, process, and procedural documentation
- Must have a full manual UK driving licence.
- Participating in and/or leading audits against ISO27001 NIST or similar
- Awareness of information security controls and frameworks such as ISO27001 and NIST
- Ability to work independently, managing a wide and varying workload, prioritising tasks, and meeting deadlines.
- Being of the highest integrity with a strong understanding of confidentiality and security
- In-depth knowledge of information security principles, practices, technologies, and standards.
- Experience with risk management, security audits, incident response, and compliance assessments.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and collaboration skills.
