**About this Role**:
Remus Management is one of the largest green space managers in the UK, providing management services to developers and resident managed communities throughout England and Wales.
Due to a strong pipeline of activity and the ambition to become a market leader, we are looking for a dynamic individual to join our business to further compliment our existing skillsets - an Ecologist. This exciting opportunity would provide exposure to several facets of our business (including marketing, business development, strategy and operations) via building and developing a consultancy offering to our clients, and acting as a key advisor to our operational teams.
**Some Responsibilities you’ll own**:
- Review and potentially prepare the Ecological Management Plans (EMPs).
- Review of Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMPs) which contain obligations extending beyond the initial development.
- Creation of Bill of Quantities / Work Specifications for habitat works.
- Mapping of habitats and recording of habitat extent and condition over time.
- Botanical and habitat survey.
- Habitat classification and condition assessments.
- Protected species surveys e.g. great crested newt, badger, bats, reptiles etc.
- Bat roost and bird nest box checks and cleaning.
- Reporting of survey and monitoring work completed.
- Provision of recommended action to maximise the ecological potential of managed sites.
- Provide ecological advice and communicate complex ecological information to a wide range of stakeholders including clients, residents and co-workers.
- Provide advice on possible effects of activities on habitats, protected species, species of conservation concern, designated sites or other sites of proven or potential biodiversity value.
- Promote biodiversity and raise awareness of ecology throughout Fexco and local community groups (as appropriate). Be able to display a highly professional image when representing the company for example in all dealings with residents/other members of the public.
- Promote best practice in survey methodologies and reporting and ensure continued professional development.
**Individual Requirements may include**:

Practical field experience:_**
- Good botanical or habitat survey skills and experience.
- Habitat survey (broad habitat and Priority Habitat classification)
- Habitat condition assessment.
- Protected species surveys.
- Habitat management for biodiversity including knowledge of mowing regimes and possibly including the use of grazing livestock.
- Experience of working with contractors and around machinery.
**Office based experience**:
- Data analysis.
- Report writing.
- Preparation of EMPs and CEMPs
- Preparation of / familiarity with Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) assessments and reporting using Defra metric 4.0 (or revised versions as appropriate).
- Habitat mapping e.g. using QGIS software.
**Beneficial Skills and Training**:
- Personal protected species survey licenses (essential for most survey / related work for protected species) e.g. level 1 great crested newt, level 2 bat licence.
- Field Identification Skills Certificate (FISC) e.g. Level 3 or above.
- Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) / CSCS card holder.
- Full CIEEM membership or working towards membership and ability to demonstrate equivalent competencies.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a broader, multi-skilled team when needed.BACK TO ALL VACANCIES
