Assistant Public Health Information Officer - Fixed Term until 31 March 2025

The Islington Public Health department forms a key part of the council, and leads the way in improving the health and wellbeing of the borough’s population, tackling health inequalities and working to enable residents to live longer, healthier and better lives. The post holder will work on projects for Haringey public health in addition to Islington projects.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our established specialist Public Health Intelligence and Information team within the Public Health department for a fixed term role. You will be supporting a team of analysts of diverse and complementary skills and experience in their daily work by assisting them in collating, analysing, interpreting and presenting quantitative and qualitative health information, contributing to a wide spectrum of public health analysis.

The Assistant Public Health Intelligence and Information Officer will support the team in providing an efficient, effective, and timely public health data analysis and performance reporting function for the London Boroughs of Islington and Haringey.

The post holder will join the Islington data and insights team consisting of public health analysts, public health intelligence officers, and assistant officers.

To support the public health intelligence team in providing an efficient, effective and timely data analysis and health intelligence function for Islington local authority and the local NHS. Key tasks include:

- Routinely monitor and describe the health, housing, and care status of the local population using a variety of different information sources and analytical methods.
- Collating and compiling data from routine or ad-hoc sources, which describe the health of the borough's populations, or the performance of housing and adult social care services.
- To support the submission of statutory returns, needs assessments, health equity audit and health impact assessment, service evaluation, commissioning and clinical governance.
- Provide a pro-active and responsive information service that includes responding to ad
- hoc requests for public health, housing, or adult social care information as well as input to longer-term projects and service development.
- Undertaking other duties and tasks as may be necessary after consultation with the post holder’s managers, required by the department, and commensurate with the post holder’s grade.
