An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Blood Sciences Specimen Reception Department for a Team Lead role. The Specimen Reception department is responsible for handling the full range of pre & post analytical services for Pathology Blood Sciences, acting as the interface between our users and our laboratories.

The services Specimen Reception provide include, but arenot limited to, sorting, quality assuring, booking and transporting patient samples for onward testing. It is a fast paced environment with a demand for accuracy and efficiency of data input.

You will be responsible for the daily operations and line management of the reception team, the co-ordination of staff and shifts, assisting with staff development and service improvements ensuring departmental KPIs are being monitoring and maintained, while addressing the changing needs of Pathology Reception.

This role will require flexible working across an 08:00 - 20:00 Monday to Friday service. Rotating between a 08:00 - 16:00 or 12:00 - 20:00 shift.

To lead and inspire the Specimen Reception team and assist with the management and coordination of the day to day activities of the team helping to maintain the delivery of a 24 hour, 7 days per week service and promote the professional image of Blood Sciences.

To continuously improve the efficiency of the Specimen Reception department through the challenge and review of pre and post analytical processes and procedures to enable a safe and effective service.

Provide daily supervision to a team of reception staff and communicate to a wide group of stakeholders, from service users to senior managers. Undertake and lead the daily administration of pre-analytical processes, and participate in other projects such as producing regular audits, key performance indicator reports and having oversight of the whole process; ensuring we are meeting our patients’ needs.
