We are looking for a Outpatient Healthcare Assistant to join our Outpatient team at our Shepton Mallet Hospital.

**What you'll be doing**:
You will be a vital member of the outpatient team. You provide providing clinical and non-clinical support within the Unit, ensuring that all patients are dealt with in a professional and courteous manner, which endorses the patient centred approach of the team.

You will provide a professional and patient focused clinical and administration and reception tasks, supporting the clinical team within the unit under the direction of a professionally qualified worker

You will support to the nursing staff, ensuring a safe and effective clinical service is provided to all users across the outpatients department, this will involve liaising with other multi-disciplinary teams, PACU, Theatres, Radiology and the Ward as required.

Also participating in the pre-assessment of patients under supervision, undertaking basic tests and investigations and chaperoning.

You will provide a patient focused service within the unit, expanding the role appropriately under supervision and guidance of a registered nurse and acting as a clinic co-ordinator in the absence of the OPD clinic coordinator, and to facilitate efficient and timely patient pathway.

**What we’ll look for in you**:
The role involves direct contact with patients and their families on a physical and psychological level and therefore you need to be empathetic, friendly and have with good interpersonal skills as well as;
- The ability to promote safe patient care
- The ability to recognise and give priority to the needs of patients while maintaining respect, dignity and having an individualised approach to patient services
- Good basic communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent Telephone manner
