WHAT TO EXPECT
This role will contribute towards the EMC sign off of component and vehicles from concept to end of volume production to ensure all vehicles meet the necessary legislative, corporate requirements and quality attributes. You would be managing and signing off components and vehicles to JLR corporate requirements. The role will involve developing and maintaining an ongoing strategy to deliver EMC approval for future model lines.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Engineering assistance into package reviews to minimise potential EMC and other issues.
- RF performance and benchmarking development.
- Specify and plan vehicle level EMC assessments based on programme content.
- Ensure a robust EMC sign-off (component and vehicle level) and develop mitigation strategies for EMC issues.
- Investigate and propose solutions for component and vehicle level EMC related issues.
- Identify, investigate and resolve RF robustness issues on our vehicles.
- Evaluate test results and support the resolution of vehicle EMC issues.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
ESSENTIAL
- Relevant previous experience in a similar electromagnetic compatibility engineering role
- Understanding of EMC theory and design principles, and experience of practical implementation
- EMC test experience (automotive, aerospace, defence or telecoms)
- Degree or proven relevant equivalent experience
- Good communication skills, both within immediate team and with other departments
- Valid Driving Licence
- Data capture, manipulation and presentation
- Hands on experience with test and measurement equipment
DESIRABLE
- Knowledge of JLR process and procedures
- Knowledge of vehicle architecture and automotive design
- Capable of working to process deadlines and able to prioritise workload
- Knowledge of digital data transmission in vehicles (CAN-FD, Ethernet, APIX, PLC) and an understanding of the associated EMC challenges
