Rugby, United Kingdom GE Power Portfolio Full time

As an engineering and technology business delivering important industry, defence and infrastructure projects we rely on planning and scheduling to choreograph the work of our many in-house experts and suppliers.

As the Planning Expert you will be a key member of the Operations team, reporting to the Project Support Leader.

Your role will be to support all our Project Managers and their project teams, both creating and maintaining project schedules where specifically required, and more generally promoting and leading the development of improved attention to planning - some of our projects require detailed schedules in Primavera P6, while others can be managed effectively by Project Managers, using MS Project, provided they have the right support and training.

So as well as being a planning expert, able to construct complex schedules from scratch, you will also bring the enthusiasm and confidence needed to raise the profile of planning so our project managers and their teams feel the need to plan, and understand the benefits.

The role requires interaction with project teams across all the GE Power Conversion businesses here in the UK, and (usually remotely) with suppliers and customers operating globally. The nature of the role implies at least mid career experience, a passion for planning and an ability to share that passion, and regular presence in the Rugby office for at least part of each week to really walk beside the project teams as they deliver some really important, challenging and exciting projects that are helping the world make better use of electrical energy.

**In this role you **will:

- Develop and maintain complex project schedules in Primavera P6 where dictated by the nature of the project or a customer requirement.
- Support Project Managers and sales teams using MS Project, by developing and maintaining templates, setting up the initial issue of the plan for new projects, and providing guidance, expertise and encouragement when required.
- Promote scheduling as a key ingredient of successful and well managed projects - actively leading and developing attention to Planning.
- Drive and manage the statusing of project schedules.
- Drive greater inclusion of Customer milestones to ensure our work can proceed to schedule without interruption.
- Generate monthly contract ‘on time delivery’ metrics.
- Assist the Engineering function with developing their ‘Project Tracker’ tool for workpackage allocation, and develop links to P6 and MS Project.
- Develop and maintain local Planning procedures and standards.
- Cooperate with other GE Power Conversion units globally to share best practice and improve alignment of processes.
- Manage other planners in the team as required.
- Where required, produce schedule derived outputs, such as Earned Value analyses.

**We are looking for** a professional with:

- A proven track record in a similar planning role, creating and maintaining complex project schedules.
- Demonstrable program management experience, proficient with Microsoft Project and Primavera P6.
- Ability to baseline and impact a program, complete critical path analysis and cost load programs, with understanding of concurrent delay and experience of building EOT and acceleration claims.
- Experience and judgement needed to dynamically strike the optimum balance between detail and practical usefulness of schedules.
- Genuine enthusiasm for Scheduling and an engaging ability to promote planning.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage and resolve conflicting demands and priorities.
- Educated to degree level or equivalent (desirable)
- Experience of SAP (desirable)
- Experience of training and coaching (desirable)
- Understanding of basic contractual terms and conditions (desirable)

**You can expect from us**:

- Challenging and exciting projects.
- A work environment where we understand that not everyone has the same expectations about their jobs, careers and work-life balance and we are happy to discuss flexibility requirements.
- Attractive compensation.
- Flexible benefits so you can build a package that fits your personal needs. Some core benefits are: Flexible pension with Company Contribution; Income protection; Private Health Insurance; Life Assurance, healthy lifestyle account.
- 34 days vacation including national holidays and the ability to flex depending on needs.

**Additional Information**:
**Relocation Assistance Provided**:No
