The post-holder will join a a team of research assistants, psychologists, nurse and allied health professionals (collectively referred to as Clinical Studies Officers, or CSOs) whose principal objective is to increase opportunities for East London NHS Foundation Trust (ELFT) service users, staff, carers and wider community to participate in relevant research.

The CSO role is really varied, working across many different studies and with different teams. They are employed by the trust (ELFT) with funding provided by the local North Thames branch of the NIHR (National Institute for Health Research) CRN (Clinical Research Network).

The main duties of the post-holder will be those concerned with identifying, recruiting and supporting patients through the research process as well as providing support as necessary to study teams and clinicians. For example, he or she may be responsible for collecting, analysing and reporting on research data pertaining to specific projects, including statistical data analysis using complex methods and established software packages.

Additionally, the post-holder will support setting up new studies in the Trust and in new clinical teams within the organisation. He or she will actively promote research amongst clinicians, service users and the wider NHS and be involved in the publication and dissemination/utilisation of findings.
