**Department**:
The internationally recognised Bioscience Technology Facility, Department of Biology is seeking a Principal Scientist to lead the Data Science Hub within the wider facility. The role will provide expert support, experimental design, advice, training, and solution provision. The role will also be responsible for developing the team within the hub to help drive career progression and expansion of the data science hub to integrate more widely across the university.

The post-holder will provide bioinformatics input into the Leeds NIHR Biomedical Research Centre’s Haematology theme, a new joint venture between researchers in York and Leeds. In addition to working with colleagues in Biology, the post-holder will work closely with researchers in the department of Health Sciences’ Epidemiology and Statistics Group, as well as their haematology colleagues in Leeds.

**Role**:
**Skills, Experience & Qualification needed**:

- Masters Degree, or equivalent significant experience in data science, computer science, or bioinformatics
- In depth and current theoretical and practical knowledge of the specialism
- Excellent knowledge of computational techniques as applied to haematological malignancies
- Working knowledge of current laboratory techniques in haematology
- Advanced programming skills in R and Python
