This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced SEN Officer to work as part of Lewisham Virtual School, supporting and managing a case load of children and YP with special educational needs in care to Lewisham Local Authority.

As an experienced Officer, you will co-ordinate the Education, health and care assessments leading to a high quality, outcome focused, EHC Plan and all other aspects of working as a Senior SEN Officer including working in collaboration with our multi agency partners to achieve the best outcome.

**The role**
The role is to case manage the educational outcomes for those children with an EHCP and those with an EHCNA. You will have the knowledge and experience of SEND practice to support and drive forward the desired outcomes. To do this you will need to demonstrate an aptitude and have a passionate approach to achieve this.

This is an opportunity to raise the educational outcomes for children and young people with SEND by ensuring that all aspects of the SEN code of practice is followed to ensure our children and YP have every opportunity to succeed at school and post 16.

You will be able to lead the network in relation to all aspects of SEN to enable a suitable outcome in relation to all SEN processes including but exclusive to: EHCNAs and drafting plans, annual reviews and associated updates, move outs, consultations, funding agreements, phase transfers, etc. The role requires a good level of communication both written and verbal to communicate with all agency partners and good accurate record keeping.

**Key Accountabilities include**:
To support the development of comprehensive education, health and care plan, annual reviews and positive multi-agency working relationships.

Draft high quality education, health and care plans which are clear, accessible and outcome focused in line with legal and statutory requirements described in the Children and Family’s act and SEND code of practice.

Manage and maintain a designated caseload of children and young people with Special Educational needs ensuring the statutory obligations are met. This will include co-ordination of EHC Needs assessment, monitoring the agreed Education, health and care plans and ensuring that a review is held at least annually, attending where possible.

Overseeing Phase Transfers from Nursery to Reception, Y6 to Y7 and Y11 to Post 16 with consultations to onward provisions by meeting and discussing needs with the Virtual School and partner agencies.

**Location**:
Whilst the service is primarily based in Laurence House, SE6 4RU we operate a hybrid approach where you will be required to work both in the office and from home on a regular basis. You may also be required to work at or from any other buildings/locations. “

**What we’re looking for**
We are looking for a hardworking, enthusiastic person with a pro-active approach to work with:
**Knowledge of**:

- The SEN services provided by an SEN Officer via the Local Authority.
- The assessment and review process for children and YP in care to the LA
- Process for placement and funding in accordance with Virtual school and SEN panel decisions
- Phase Transfer processes.

**Experience of**:

- Have a working knowledge of all aspects of the SEN processes
- Managing a busy and complex workload
- To be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Working across teams and multi-agency partners to achieve good outcomes.
- Working effectively and within an agreed timeframe to ensure YP are placed via the consultation process, in a provision suitable to their needs.
