SEN Casework Officer

Start Date: ASAP

Rate: Hourly rate negotiable depending on experience (Inside IR35)

Hours: Full time, 37 hours per week

Duration: 3-6 months initially (likely to extend)

Job Purpose:

As an SEN Officer, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the processing of statutory assessments and the development of Statements/Education, Health and Care (EHC) plans for children and young people.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Contributing to the statutory assessment processes in accordance with the Children and Families Act 2014 and Special Educational Needs Code of Practice 2015
  • Collaborating with the Lead SEN Officer to plan, deliver, and monitor the assessment processes, ensuring that students with SEN make substantial progress and that available resources are utilised effectively
  • Implementing changes in the identification, assessment, and monitoring of pupils with special educational needs, as mandated by the Children and Families Act 2014
  • Ensuring that SEN services are delivered in alignment with the principles of inclusivity outlined in the Children and Families Act 2014, with a focus on actively involving children, young people, and their parents in decision-making processes

Requirements:

  • Relevant experience in the field of special educational needs, preferably within an educational or local authority setting
  • Comprehensive understanding of the legislative frameworks governing SEN provision, including the Children and Families Act 2014 and the SEN Code of Practice 2015
  • Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and external stakeholders
  • Commitment to promoting inclusive practices and ensuring the best possible outcomes for children and young people with SEN
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
