Surgical Pre-assessment is a busy unit predominantly based in Cheltenham General Hospital but some sessions are held in Gloucester will be required. We assess patients from a variety of specialties including Urology, Breast, Gynaecology, Colorectal, Upper GI, Vascular, Head and Neck and Orthopaedics. With waiting lists expanding due to Covid the unit is taking larger numbers of patients than ever before. In addition to this with the Strategic Site Development underway to build a new purpose built day surgery unit the number of patients undergoing surgery will increase.

We are seeking highly motivated and dynamic Healthcare Assistants with a shared vision in delivery of the very best patient experience and outcomes, whilst continuing to strive for quality improvements in partnership with the multidisciplinary team.

This would be an ideal opportunity for ambitious HCA to gain valuable experience supporting patient assessment and working closely with the nurses within the clinics. You will be required to carry out tasks that will help assess patients fitness for a variety of surgical procedures. This will include venepuncture, ECG and observations. We work closely with the Anaesthetists on a daily basis ensuring our patients are prepared and informed to have the best and safest surgical journey from start to finish.
