We are seeking a highly competent and compassionate Learning Assistant to work one to one with a learner in the Performing Arts department.

**Job Overview**:

- To provide high-quality learning support within the Performing Arts department working 1-1 with a student and supporting others in the group.
- To have an excellent knowledge of ASC and understand how to support learners individually and in small groups.
- To provide 1-1 support for GCSE Maths and English.
- Work cooperatively with the Learning Services Team and curriculum areas to continuously develop and improve support for learners.
- Support lecturing staff and Senior Learning Assistants in ensuring an effective, productive and safe/healthy learning environment for specific students.
- Contribute to the monitoring of learners’ progress; provide feedback to learners and relevant staff in relation to progress and achievement and complete Learner Support Records thoroughly.
- Use ICT effectively to support learning activities and develop learners’ competence and independence in its use.
- Work flexibly to support learners, which may necessitate sudden or frequent changes to the timetable.
- Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.

Educated to level 3 (A-Level or equivalent)
HLTA level 4 or equivalent
GCSE Maths and English grade 4 or equivalent
IT qualification or proven competence

**Experience***:

Experience of working with learners at KS4 or in Further Education
Experience of working with learners with ASC
Experience of working with individuals with additional needs in an educational or care setting
Experience of delivering GCSE English & Maths

**Knowledge & Skills**:

A thorough knowledge of ASC and how best to support students with ASC
Knowledge of access technology
An understanding of the implications for learning of other common additional support needs, including Dyslexia and ADHD
Knowledge of the implementation of Education, Health and Care plans
Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with learners that promote learning
An interest, or experience of, working within Performing Arts
Ability to communicate effectively with learners
Knowledge of Functional Skills
Awareness of ways to structure and present information and ideas clearly and effectively to support learning
Ability to provide support that builds on the learner’s experience, learning preferences and levels of independence and encourages learners to work independently where possible
Ability to document learner progress effectively
