Motor Litigated Moj Limitation Handler

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic experienced litigated motor handler looking to progress from MOJ handling or widen their technical knowledge of MOJ litigation handling in managing these niche files.
The handler will be responsible for managing a caseload of MOJ cases that have reached limitation and subsequently issued and stayed by the Court. The handler will manage a full case load of files dealing with the procedural aspects of the case only whilst interacting with the client, ensuring the case is proactively managed and seeking early disclosure of all available evidence.
The handler may also manage a small volume of pre-litigation [stage 2] and litigated (stage 3) MOJ if required with responsibility for adhering to all MOJ deadlines, reserve management, valuing general and special damages and negotiating effectively within parameters set.
A good understanding of the MOJ protocol [rules] and or CPR is a necessity along with ability to identify large loss triggers.

**Key Accountabilities**
- Effective management of the litigation process:
- Briefing and liaising with Counsel.
- Adherence to all Court deadlines.
- Identifying cases with a value >£25k.
- Identifying large loss triggers.
- Pro-active control of life cycles.
- Focus on phone contact.

Effective management of Stage 2:
- Accurate reserve management.
- Identifying cases with a value >£25k.
- Identifying large loss triggers.
- Valuing general and special damages.
- Accurate strategy setting and negotiation.
- Managing Stage 2 through to CPP stage.
- Dealing with Stage 2 costs.
- Processing settlements within the client environment.

Case management systems and IT:
- Maintain all reserves and diary actions.
- All critical dates are achieved.
- IT literate: proficient in use of Microsoft Office packages (Excel and Word)

**Experience, Skills and Qualifications**
- Good knowledge and understanding of the MOJ Civil Procedure Rules and associated time scales.
- Experience of valuing general and special damages utilising a variety of tools including JC Guidelines and case law.
- Prior dealing in quantum negotiations.
- Prior experience of drafting documents.
- Working to set deadlines.
- Dealing with and managing Claimant Solicitors, policyholders, clients and the Court.
- Managing a caseload.
- Excellent listening and verbal communication skills
- Ability to remain calm under pressure
- Ability to take constructive feedback and set personal goals for continuous improvement.
- Ability to plan and prioritise workloads
- Efficient in a process driven environment
- Confident with ability to take initiative to innovate and adapt to changing situations
