**THE PERSON**

Previous experience of providing excellent clinical care, registered with GMC,have knowledge of GI diagnosis, treatment, health education and JAGrequirements, and work as the clinical expert during a patient's diagnostic andtherapeutic endoscopic procedure.Empathetic to patients and a passionate, self-motivated individual who can demonstrateour TRUST company values and are committed to making a difference to peoples lives.

**THE ROLE**

The remit is to work within the Endoscopy team providing and developing Endoscopyservices across DMC. To undertake diagnostic and therapeutic, upper and lowerendoscopic cases within the delivery of GI endoscopy sessions, delivering a high level ofpatient care.

There will be opportunities to participate in all aspects of the endoscopy serviceincluding audit and training. This post enables independent Endoscopists to consolidatetheir Endoscopy skills in diagnostic/Therapeutic upper and lower GI Endoscopy.

£2200 per day - 10 patients per list, seeing 20 patients per day.

**JOB RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Clinical & Lead Activities**
- Carry out upper and lower GI endoscopy to a high standard, in line with JAGregulations.
- Maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management ofgastroenterology patients.
- Teaching and support of nursing staff.
- To actively participate in Clinical Governance and audit
- You are responsible for ensuring that the patient, family and carers are at thecentre of everything you do.

**Compliance**
- Comply with DMC Healthcare policies/procedures and in particular, issuesrelating to Health and Safety, COSHH, Incidents Reporting and the DataProtection Act.
- Undertaking all work in accordance with the Trusts procedures and operatingpolicies
- Vetting of endoscopy referrals as per local and national guidelines
- Responsible for carrying out teaching, examination and accreditation duties asrequired and contributing to continuing medical education and clinicalgovernance initiatives.
- Investigate and respond to all accidents and untoward incidents and completeelectronic reporting system.

**PERSON SPECIFICATION**

**Essential**
- GMC Registration and specialist register
- JAG accredited and have exceeded the NED minimum KPIs
- NHS substantive post
- Previous experience as a Lead or senior RGN within an Endoscopy environmentor have transferrable skills
- High standard of clinical practice competent across a range of clinical skillssupported by professional competence and knowledge including diagnostic andtherapeutic Endoscopy skills
- Provide a high level of leadership to your allocated team
- Create fair and safe rotas for the service
- Understand safeguarding regulation and ability to escalate concerns from staff
- Identify training needs of staff and ensure compliance with mandatory training.
- Ability to undertake a range of diagnostic endoscopy procedures
- Ability to undertake a range of Therapeutic endoscopy skills
- Able to use evidence based practice to provide high standards of care
- Knowledge of appropriate standards and external bodies, such as the CareQuality Commission
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills as well asexcellent interpersonal skills with patients, staff, and other health careprofessionals.
- IT literate and a competent user of the MS Office suite of products
- Able to demonstrate an understanding of health policy and professional healthagendas
- Able to deal effectively with challenging situations and challenging individuals

**Desirable**
- Previous experience working in the private healthcare sector
- Show awareness of Endoscopy specialty
- Can undertake and analyse Audits on a regular cycle
