**The Role**:
The post holder will carry out routine personal care/assist with routine examination duties for patients, in support of (and supervised by), a registered nurse/clinician.

The post holder will ensure a person centred approach to care delivery which is safe and effective to ensure and maintain quality strategy.

The post holder will carry out assigned duties to maintain hygiene, order and safety within the ward/department environment.

**Duties may vary with the type of ward/department and the degree of patient dependency.**

**What we'll need you to bring**:

- Knowledge of personal care and related procedures or previous volunteer or work experience in a health, education or social environment.
- Required to undertake on the job training and induction
- Undertake mandatory HCSW standards
- Ability to work with people and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to carry out assigned tasks effectively in a busy environment.
- Working knowledge of basic information technology.

**It would be great if you also have**:

- SVQ, NVQ or associated health related study or working towards or willing to undertake SVQ training
- Evidence of training in Infection control and Prevention
- Evidence of recent study
- BLS
- Current experience as a nursing assistant in a health care setting
- Experience in acute hospital environment preferably in medical wards or coronary care environment
- Experience in assisting with the patient admission, observation and discharge process
- Calm when under pressure
- Caring, compassionate and approachable
- Enthusiastic and motivated

**Contract type**:
Permanent

Full time

37.5 hours

**Location and Working Pattern**:
This role will be based in University Hospital Wishaw within Ward 6 medical diabetics.

The working pattern for this role Monday-Sunday
