**Primary purpose of the position**:
To work within the Quality Department as part of a Production shift team in the manufacturing area following a shift pattern. The Senior QC position is the Quality Control leader on shift and has the responsibility to ensure that the customer is protected from Non-Conforming product being sent out of the plant. The role is a direct link between the Quality Department and Production Department/manufacturing.

**Essential Responsible Areas**:
The Senior QC reports into the Shift Manager. The Shift Manager is responsible for the production activities, the Senior QC is responsible for the Quality activities during the shift.

The main duties are;
- Ensuring that the Plant Quality Standards are driven on shift to meet the set Quality Requirements and Procedures
- Have an overview of the QC and Sorter daily plan of activity
- Involvement in the HFI Sorting activity - Pallets in & out/Inspection of sorted pallets
- Control of Pallet inspection and signoff
- Monitor and escalate Quality issues to the Quality department and ensure that the Shift Manager / Team Leader is informed of any issues affecting the quality of the product through the shift
- Decision maker on Non-Critical HFI Pallet disposition (Release, Sort, Scrap)
- Undertake activities as directed by the Quality Supervisor/Quality Manager
- Control Mid Shift topics based upon O.O.S. and risks
- Complete documentation for the positive Release
- Organising of audits to be carried out by the Crews following any Non-Conformance incident
- Maintain the standards set by the Quality Department
- Provide the Quality Department with data and information regarding the previous 12 hours at the positive release meeting
- Carry out the required quality checks and monitor the manufacturing process
- To maintain the housekeeping in the Finished Pallet Inspection area to a satisfactory and safe condition and report any Hygiene issues in other areas to the TL’s and Shift Manager
- Maintain safe working practices and comply with any legal environmental and safety requirements and/or checks, work safely at all times and to report unsafe conditions to their supervisor immediately
- Promote quality improvement and preventative actions by involvement in continuous improvement activities to meet the key performance objectives and target
- To be part of the Internal Audit team and be involved in the implementation of audits as part of the plant audit program
- Maintain the production requirements of the Plant and support the TL’s where possible with spoilage reduction
- To have good communication with management and fellow workers, reporting quality defects, unsafe conditions, manufacturing difficulties, ideas for improvements, etc.
- To co-operate with relevant environmental, health & Safety legislation and the companies’ environmental, health & Safety management systems and standards.

**Professional & Education Qualification**:
Apprenticeship or other qualification / experience in a Quality Control discipline

**Skills**:

- Preferably experience in Quality & Manufacturing environments
- Ability to make both popular and unpopular decisions when required
- Able to work in isolation and as part of the Crew team
- Basic computer skills
- Able to manage audits

**Knowledge**:

- Food Safety requirements
