We are looking for a new team member to join our busy Pharmacy Distribution team, supplying vital medication to all East Kent NHS Trust sites, and also the local Pilgrims hospices. This role is based at Kent and Canterbury hospital, and you will be responsible for picking and packing medicines stock orders.
This is a busy role but also a rewarding role, as you get to go home knowing that you have made an active difference to patient care on a daily basis.

You must be physically fit as the role involves bending, lifting and moving boxes, and be-able to be on your feet all day.

We operate 2 shift patterns of 08:00 - 16:00 and 09:30 - 17:30 on a rota basis Mon - Fri. You may be required to work one weekend every 6 weeks (mornings only), and 1 bank holiday per year (morning only).

- To participate in the assembly of medicines for issue to the wards and departments against orders signed by authorised staff, ensuring that all issues are recorded on the pharmacy stock control computer.
- To participate in the packing of deliveries of medicines to the other sites and contribute to the smooth operation of the automated distribution system.
- Maintain a clean, tidy and orderly ward distribution area.
- To participate in the sorting of medicines returned from wards and departments, and in the disposal of expired and unusable stock according to procedure.
- To participate in routine checks of stock levels within the pharmacy, including expiry date monitoring, following written protocols.
- To routinely fill up the stock shelves.
- To participate in the daily stock check and regular expiry date checks and to deal with expired stocks according to the standard operating procedures.
- To assist in the receipt and stock rotation of medicines.
- To deliver medicines to the wards and assisting portering staff if required (infrequent).
- To undertake other duties as deemed necessary for the good of the service.
- To provide an effective and friendly service to all customers
