Health and Safety/production Supervisor

40 Hours per week with additional hours as and when required during the season production peaks.

**The Role**
We are currently seeking a Health and Safety/Production Supervisor to join our team in ensuring a safe working environment at our facility. To oversee, develop and improve the Health & Safety practices and behaviour across the company. Working with the senior H&S Advisor to ensure compliance with Health and Safety law, and adherence to the H&S management system on the 3 horticultural sites.
During the peak production periods (13 weeks/year), undertake a production supervisory role within a specific area of the business; to support the operational team in delivering the peak periods.
**Responsibilities**:
**Health and Safety**
Develop and lead initiatives to embed health and safety practices across all sites.
Work with colleagues to develop Safe Systems of Work for all machinery and equipment.
Review and develop risk assessments across all horticultural sites.
Conduct monthly site walks and audits and share findings with relevant Managers.
Ensure weekly Fire Alarm tests are carried out in conjunction with Fire Wardens at each site.
Investigate accidents and incidents and analyse trends to prevent reoccurrence.
With the H&S advisor evaluate business impact of new Health and Safety legislation and ensure the company has systems in place to meet legal compliance.
Work with Managers to identify gaps in health and safety related training and co-ordinate with relevant providers to deliver training in line with operational requirements.
Point of contact for enforcement authorities.
Support the Technical Team to ensure compliance with standards and accreditations.
Manage COSHH assessments across all sites.
Carry out regular emergency light testing.
Manage Safety PPE stocks and liaise with suppliers.
Chair Health & Safety meetings and ensure all actions are recorded and action log maintained.
Promote safe working practices across all sites.
**Production Supervision**
Ensure production information is received in a timely manner and staff and all material requirements are in place prior to the start of packing.
Ensure adequate staffing resources are managed in line with production schedule.
Ensure Pre-Operational Inspection Records and End of Shift sign-off sheets are completed.
Ensure the operational and quality check forms are completed for each production run.
Responsible for the efficiency, accuracy, and safe working of Line Leaders/staff within production area.
Responsible for the control, hygiene, and safety of the production area (designated as the packing area).
Maximise production efficiency and co-ordinate activities to ensure all output targets are met.
Support Quality Management team and maintain a constant close eye on quality.
Communicate and proactively solve issues and involve other departments, and your line-manager, when necessary, to ensure smooth operations and reduce delays in line production.
Read and understand specifications, policies, and procedures.
Liaise with other teams such as goods in / despatch / quality to ensure product is packed ready for out-loading.
Adopt and adhere to our ‘clean as you go policy’

The job holder will be required to undertake such flexible and additional working hours as may be necessary, within reason, to facilitate the efficient fulfilment of the duties required by the position.
**Requirements**:
H&S qualification to applicable level, NEBOSH or IOSH is desirable.
Previous experience working with health and safety as part of their role
Knowledge of hazard identification and risk assessments
Experience of working with in a productive ole, managing staff in a KPI/deadline driven environment
Able to influence and work effectively with colleagues across the company
Good Microsoft office skills particularly Excel and Word
Confident in challenging culture and specific working practice where required
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills along with excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
