This is a permanent position with variable hours; busy season (Apr - Aug) 40-60 hours per week, low season 30-35 hours per week. Based on 07/07.30 - 4/4.30pm however flexibility is required.

**This is a fast paced role so successful applicants will need to be agile and possess reasonable levels of fitness.**

**Job Purpose and Scope**:
The role requires the ability to manage employee and agency staff and to schedule production tasks to meet expected line efficiency rates.

Ensure all activities under your responsibility are carried out safely and comply with Company Health and Safety rules and facilities are maintained and kept clean and tidy.

**Main Responsibilities and Duties**:
Ensure production information is received in a timely manner and staff and all material requirements are in place prior to the start of packing.

Ensure adequate staffing resources are managed in line with production schedule.

Ensure Pre-Operational Inspection Records and End of Shift sign-off sheets are completed. These are to include:
Ensure production line equipment is safe to use and is in good working order.

Ensure all staff are conforming to the company hygiene and health and safety rules.

Ensure the operational and quality check forms are completed for each production run. These include;
- Product description and quantity produced.
- Start/End time of production run and number of staff used.
- Record of any waste plant material and/or packaging materials.
- All care cards/labels and box end labels are attached to the job card and signed off as being accurate against specification.
- Traceability records are completed for plant, compost (used in added value) and packaging materials.

Responsible for the efficiency, accuracy, and safe working of Line Leaders on the production floor.

Responsible for the control, hygiene, and safety of the production area (designated as the packing area). Areas must always be kept clean and tidy and that all staff conform to the company Health and Safety Policy and Hygiene Policies (e.g tool and sharps control, wearing of Hi-Vis, no food/drink etc)

Maximise production efficiency and co-ordinate activities to ensure all output targets are met. It is the Production Supervisor’s responsibility to know expected production rates.

Support Quality Management team and maintain a constant close eye on quality.

Communicate and proactively solve issues and involve other departments, and your line-manager when necessary, to ensure smooth operations and reduce delays in line production.

Be able to read and understand specifications, policies, and procedures. To ensure that the lines are set up correctly and product at the end of the line conforms to the specification.

Liaise with other teams such as goods in / despatch / quality to ensure product is packed ready for out-loading.

To work in other areas of the business when requested.

Adopt and adhere to our ‘clean as you go policy’.

Ensure the Company Health and Safety safe working practices are always observed.

Comply with Company Policies and Procedures.

The job holder will be required to undertake such flexible and additional working hours as may be necessary, within reason, to facilitate the efficient fulfilment of the duties required by the position.

**Other Duties**

In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed above, the job holder will be expected to participate in other areas of the business from time to time as may be reasonably requested. Any such changes will be within the general character of the duties or level of responsibility set out within this job description.

**Skills, Knowledge & Experience**

**Essential**

Able to communicate effectively in English to Level 2 or higher

People management skills with the ability to lead and motivate the team daily to achieve company targets as per the customer requirements.

Good numeracy, literacy and organisational skills.

Ability to follow processes and procedures accurately.

Have strong problem-solving skills

Ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure.

Be a team player.

Remain flexible.

**Desirable**

Previous experience within the horticultural industry.
