**The Academy**
The UTC, based in central West Bromwich is the latest Secondary school to join the highly regarded Shireland Collegiate Academy Trust.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing UTC where you will have the opportunity to drive the direction of the growth. From September 2023 we will have year 7 and 8 pupils in addition to a 6th Form and continue to admit students in year 7 and 12 each year until we are full.
The building is nearing the end of an extensive renovation program aimed at providing staff and students with a cutting edge learning environment with the latest technology including laptops for all staff and students, a fully equipped immersive room and mock hospital ward.
This is an exciting and rewarding opportunity to lead the Science team in a brand new environment with fully equipped laboratories and the latest resources. Science will play a vital role in our specialism as a UTC and as such the role will allow the postholder to shape the direction in which the UTC grows.

**Science at the UTC**
The science department consists of 3 specialist teachers who can teach all disciplines to A-Level, and as the UTC grows so will the team, playing a greater role in developing our specialism and supporting students into their future careers.
Science is taught in all year groups by the Science department as well as playing a key role within our unique KS3 curriculum - Literacy for Life. This thematic approach to Key Stage 3 supports the transition from KS2 into KS3 both academically and pastorally.
The programme has been run successfully within our Trust for the past 11 years and judged Outstanding by Ofsted at the last two inspections.
This is an exciting time to be joining the UTC as we grow and develop into a full sized UTC over the next 4 years.
