Here at Optima we are working with a worldwide leading automotive testing, inspection and certification company based in Towcester.

Within the role of EMC Test Technician you will be responsible for ensuring test work is performed correctly, to the correct standard and within the defined timescales. You will be maintainig the general equipment, cables in the test laboratory and providinga clean and tidy working environment as well as maintaining the cleanliness of the test site and the associated outbuildings. Maintain records of all test results taken as required by UKAS and internal documentation and report any inconsistencies in any documents,equipment or procedure.

**Key Responsibilities and duties**
- Carry out testing on Clients equipment and sites to UKAS and / the client or as required. All work to be under the guidance of suitably qualified engineers.
- Provide front line service / repair for all client test equipment.
- To install and commission new test equipment.
- To construct test systems and arrangements for test work. To assist with the general laboratory duties associated with testing.
- To monitor correct operation of test equipment and cables and report failures and breakages to the Quality Manager.
- To carry out testing in an objective manner according to the client Technical Procedures and generally in accordance with the client quality manual.
- To record test or calibration results in the log according to client procedures.
- To work in a diligent manner commensurate with the operations of a professional test establishment and in compliance with the standards of quality required by UKAS whenever required.
- To set-up and dismantle tests for and on behalf of the engineers. Perform daily checks on the set-ups to ensure satisfactory operation and note results of any such checks when required.
- To order and take delivery of any special test equipment required for testing.
- Perform the necessary health and safety checks on electrical equipment as required by our health and safety policy.

**Experience and qualifications**
- A period of industrial training of 1 year in a related field of electronics is desirable but newly qualified personnel shall be given training as required.
- The ability to accurately express test results in a written report is essential.
- Soldering skills for electrical and electronic components is desirable with experience of discrete and SMT components.
- Some knowledge of the operation of PCs and associated software (especially Word processors and Windows) is desirable.
