An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to join our friendly team. The post holder will be responsible for providing a comprehensive, efficient and professional administrative service to the Neonatal Unit, with the additional responsibility for ensuring Badgernet data is collated and input appropriately, in-line with the requirements outlined by the Commissioners and National Neonatal Audit Programme, whilst ensuring accurate reporting of Healthcare Resource Groups (HRGs) for network reporting and analysis purposes.

The post holder has responsibility for the administration and data input of specific patient details onto the Neonatal Badgernet system, whilst ensuring admissions and discharges are completed in a timely manner on various internal systems, including HISS and Maxims. Daily, weekly and monthly data will be collated and input onto the Badgernet system, including the inputting of staffing levels and specific admissions and discharge information, and quarterly checks will be carried out to ensure NNAP standards are maintained.

The post holder will be expected to liaise with clinical and administrative staff whilst providing support to the Neonatal Nursing and Medical Team and Ward Manager as required.

- Data input and generation of reports in line with the National Neonatal Audit Programme (NNAP) requirements.
- Maintain meticulous and comprehensive patient demographical and National Neonatal Audit Programme data which have a financial impact on neonatal funding within the trust.
- Accurately input, scrutinise and be responsible for identifying Badgernet errors and correcting such data, as input by all levels of clinical staff. This is essential in order to reflect the quality of care and performance at a national level aiding with benchmarking with other hospitals, as required by NHS England.
- To work with discretion and confidentiality when dealing with patient data or information.
- To demonstrate sensitivity, tact. empathy and diplomacy where appropriate, for example when acting as first point of contact for distressed or anxious parents.
- To communicate effectively with clinicians, nursing staff, other healthcare professions and departments, both internally and externally, concerning routine neonatal issues.
- To use own initiative and judgement to solve neonatal administrative and electronic system problems using previous knowledge and experience.
- To ensure that admission details for all neonates have been accurately completed and input, by clinical staff, on all relevant electronic systems within a timely manner.
- To check and finalise all relevant discharge information for all neonates, across all relevant electronic systems, ensuring a secure address where relevant, prior to sending medical notes to the Coding department, in a timely manner.
- To discharge all babies from the Badgernet system, in a timely manner, ensuring date & time of discharge, appointment referral details, feeding information and destination of discharge are all completed, in liaison with the Neonatal Lead Nurse or Consultant where necessary.
- To provide a comprehensive, administrative and information service to the Ward Manager & Neonatal Lead Consultant specifically related to NNAP standards.
- To ensure the provision of data to the Operational Delivery Network (ODN) on a regular basis or as requested, prioritising workload to deal with correspondence, the completion of electronic documentation and return of information.
- To act as receptionist/first point of contact for the department, dealing with routine and specialist enquiries and effectively communicating with parents, visitors and members of other departments, in a pleasant and helpful manner.
- To plan, prioritise and organise daily workload, work on own initiative and unsupervised, with Ward Manager support, when required.
