**TITLE**: HCA LOCATIONS: Whitworth Medical Centre STAFF CATEGORY: Clinical HOURS: Full Time/Part Time Monday to Friday [Between 08:00-18:30] RESPONSIBLE TO: Practice Manager SALARY & BENEFITS: £22,893 [pro rata] + NHS Pension + Attendance Bonus Days + Blue Light Discount Card About Whitworth Medical Centre Whitworth Medical Centre is a long established, forward thinking and dynamic GP Practice currently serving around 7,000 patients. Based in the centre of Whitworth, our purpose-built premises contain a variety of primary care services to meet the needs of the local population. We are proud to be a teaching Practice for Nursing Students and Health Care Assistants and are committed to the continued development of our team. JOB PURPOSE The purpose of the role is to assist Medical Personnel in the care of Practice Patients to include treatment, preventative care, screening and Patient education.
The post holder will act as a focal point of communication between Patients, Doctors, Nurses and other members of the Primary Health Care Team. The post will also include some administrative duties. CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The following list of duties and responsibilities represent the broad range of tasks, which may be required to be undertaken either routinely or periodically, in addition to the local level roles and responsibilities of a HCA: Nursing New Patient health checks, including any necessary paperwork and referrals within the Practice Blood pressure Monitoring ECGs (inc. 24 hour ECG, 24 hour BP & home monitoring) Urinalysis Chaperoning duties Phlebotomy Ensure specimens are labelled and bagged ready for collection with the necessary paperwork completed Ensure clinical waste collection runs smoothly, reporting any problems to the Lead Nurse Ensure sharp bins are ready for collection Ordering of stock Restocking and maintenance of equipment Restocking of clinical areas and consulting rooms B12 injections Flu injections Pneumococcal and shingles vaccine Well Women/Men checks Support of Quality and Outcomes Framework annual reviews and other local targets as appropriat Administration and Professional Responsibilities Participate in the administration and professional responsibilities of the Practice Team Ensure accurate and legible notes of all consultations and treatments are recorded in the Patients notes Ensure appropriate items of service claims are made accurately, reporting any problems to the Practice Manager Ensure accurate completion of all necessary documentation associated with Patient health care and registration with the Practice Ensure collection and maintenance of statistical information required for regular and ad hoc reports Attend and participate in Practice meetings as required Assist in the formulation of Practice philosophy, strategy and policy To assist in seasonal and special projects as requested e.g.
- discriminatory to colleagues and patients.

You have a responsibility to protect and maintain confidentiality of all information. You must not, except as authorised or required by law or your duties, reveal any confidential information.
