Assistant Director of Nursing

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced senior nurse with managerial leadership to join our nursing leadership team as an Assistant Director of Nursing for Cancer Services
The post holder will lead, influence, develop and expand cancer services throughout the Trust and strategically influence the direction of cancer nursing within the Trust over the coming years. A strong passion for providing outstanding nursing care and a quality patient experience for all cancer patients is essential.
You will be part of our Triumvirate Leadership Team and work closely with the Directorate Manager and Clinical Director for Cancer Services. As part of the Triumvirate, the post holder will work collaboratively with the Cancer Clinical Lead and Directorate Manager ensuring that robust systems of governance and performance management are in place, and that high quality patient-led services are being developed and delivered to nationally recognised best practice. The postholder will also support transformational projects to deliver personalised care in cancer with the Macmillan Personalised Care Project Manager.
**The post-holder will**:
- provide Trust-wide professional nursing leadership and strategic direction for specialist cancer nursing in the Trust ensuring compliance with National guidance and long term cancer plan strategy
- advance the development and practice of cancer nursing in line with national recommendations and standards where available.
- provide direct line management (including professional leadership) to staff working in the Macmillan Cancer Information Centre, the staff working in the chemotherapy Units, the Acute Oncology Nursing Team, the Clinical Psychologist and any other members of staff as agreed with the Cancer Business Manager.
- liaise closely with the other Lead Cancer Nurses within the Strategic Clinical Network to implement the Cancer Reform Strategy, the NHS Cancer Plan and Cancer Survivorship initiatives.
- act as a key link to the Strategic Clinical Network, Clinical Commissioning Groups, Clinical Senate and other significant stakeholders in delivering cancer care.
- act as the Trust lead for the cancer peer review programme, leading the review process and working with tumour sites to implement recommendations.Everyone who works within this team has an overwhelming commitment to provide outstanding nursing care and excellent patient experience for all cancer patients. **CLINICAL LEADERSHIP**:

- To maintain clinical competence and credibility, acting as a role model for best practice, ensuring that nursing care is provided to a high standard, in response to changing services and patient needs.
- To advise the Divisional Director of Nursing on issues of professional and service developments and identify the nursing implications of these.
- To act as the Trust lead for the cancer peer review programme, leading the review process and working with tumour sites to implement recommendations.
- Ensure strong professional leadership, working with the Matrons and Clinical Nurse Specialists to support high standards of care.
- To ensure patients, carers and their families are empowered and educated in respect of self-care and sustainable lifestyle changes.
- To work horizontally within the Trust advising and supporting senior nursing colleagues on the delivery of local cancer services.
