Epilepsy Youth Worker

They will ensure the clinic environment is Young People friendly, stimulating and work closely with Young People with Epilepsy, conducting relevant workshops in the community.
A critical function of the role is to support the wider hospital youth service and ensure Young People with Epilepsy are able to engage in activities and sessions to ensure the best experience for young people.
The role will involve working alongside Young People, using informal or formal assessment to establish the needs of the patient group, by forming a good working relationship with the Paediatric Epilepsy team to provide a thorough and effective service, meeting the holistic needs of the Young Person and their families.
The Youth support worker will encourage and supervise the interaction of Young People with activities, with particular emphasis on group work and use motivational approaches, where appropriate. Working with Young People, they will prepare them for specific activities and treatment plans. Ensuring that links with external agencies or units where Young People may be cared for are forged.
Supervision of unqualified staff such as youth work, play specialist students and volunteers is a integral part of the role.
The role will be required to travel to multiple locations as part of the work.
Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides a full range of hospital and community services for people across East Cheshire (population 399K) and West Cheshire and Chester (population 357K). The Trust provides high quality planned and emergency care, cardiac, critical care, child health, maternity services and intermediate care at Leighton Hospital in Crewe, Victoria Infirmary in Northwich, and Elmhurst Intermediate Care Centre in Winsford.

**Overview of responsibilities**:
Working with young people who are diagnosed with epilepsy, to ensure that the holistic needs are met
Increase engagement with Young People
Collect data from survey and other sources to monitor the effectiveness of the Youth Worker role, to improve the overall health and experience of care for the Young People and their families.
