Main Tasks and Responsibilities Communication Communicates with colleagues and Supervisors in connection with own job role with a high level of customer care, using own initiative. To work with any new starters, demonstrating tasks and methods of work. Organisational Organises own day-to-day work tasks in relation to collection of waste or as determined by Supervisor. Required to use own initiative. This new role will work on a rota basis of one month day shift, next month night shift and will be expected to provide cover for other colleagues on either shift pattern as and when required.

Knowledge, Training and Experience Participate in Trust mandatory training and any departmental specific training Competent in operating of tugs and cages across the hospital site and adherence to departmental procedures and protocols and Health and Safety and Fire Policies. Knowledge of the Trusts Waste Protocols and Segregation Processes. Knowledge of the consignment of hazardous clinical waste processes. Participate in Trust mandatory training and any departmental specific training Information Resources Undertakes daily pre user check of waste carts and recording of information.

Emotional Effort Ensure tasks which may be a hazard to oneself or others such as driving of tugs are carried out in a safe and courteous manner, using a high level of customer care. Physical Effort Frequent use of operating machinery, e.g. driving of tugs with cages Frequent manoeuvring of waste bins and cages and lifting of waste bags and sharps containers. This job description outlines the current main responsibilities of the post.
