**Rate of Pay**:£12.00 per hour.

**Hours**: The shift times are 8.30am - 6.00pmwith the weekly hours being 27 hours per week i.e. 3 days per week

**Job Summary**:
The cook is an integral and valued member of the team at Ashbrook Care Home and is responsible for preparing fresh food to a consistently high standard for our residents to enjoy.

By way of their duties and responsibilities the cook makes an important direct contribution in relation to the quality of life our residents’ experience. The role therefore affords the right person with an **opportunity to make a difference to the lives of others.**

**Qualifications/Skills Required**:

- Level 2 Award in Professional Cookery or equivalent is preferable;
- Minimum of 1 year previous work experience in busy kitchen environment;
- Knowledge of special diets as they relate to care home environment would be helpful but not essential as full training will be provided;
- Ability to work as part of a team;
- Excellent working knowledge of food safety principles as they relate to a commercial kitchen environment.

**Key Tasks**:

- Assume responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the care home kitchen and effective implementation of key processes;
- Place stock orders;
- Receive deliveries and ensure appropriate stock rotation;
- Prepare an appealing choice of fresh food to a consistently high standard including provision of special diets when necessary while minimising waste;
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment;
- Effective implementation of Health and Safety Policy and HACCP plan.

Ashbrook Care Home is a purpose built single-storey 68 bed care home located in spacious landscaped grounds just a few minutes drive from Junction 14 of the M1 motorway.
