Our Human Resources department has a vacancy for an Investigation Officer, who will provide specialist guidance and support for formal and informal casework such as investigations, hearings and appeals relating to student and staff complaints and disciplinary issues. This will involve conducting thorough investigations in alignment with established regulations, ensuring cases are progressed to resolution in a timely manner.

The postholder will also collaborate closely with other University departments to develop initiatives and provide training, aimed at fostering a safe environment for staff, students and visitors.

This is a brand new role that offers a great opportunity for the postholder to shape the provision, ensuring the University’s processes are equitable and appropriate.

**Skills & Experience**

**Experience and Knowledge**
- Experience of working in a UK higher education institution demonstrating and understanding of the needs of students and staff; or has experience from another relevant organisation.
- Proven experience of managing investigations in formal casework at all stages of complaint, appeal and disciplinary procedures.
- Up to date knowledge of law as it applies to casework and University procedures.
- Experience of delivering and developing training.
- CIPD Level 5.

**Communication**
- Ability to understand, summarise and convey complex information that needs careful explanation or interpretation.
- Ability to make confident decisions, evaluate complex situations and provide clear business focused advice.
- Excellent IT skills.

**Liaison**
- Experience of establishing productive working relationships with a wide range of people to strengthen working relationships and systems.
- Participate in internal and external networks to benefit own area of work.

**Decision Making**
- Self-motivated, with the ability to work autonomously and to manage own workload.
- A positive can-do attitude.
